Adoption Process
Step 1: Phone Interview
I begin the adoption process with a phone interview in which I will tell you about RESQCATS and our mission. I'll also do my best to answer any questions you may have. Then I will ask you questions pertaining to the welfare, safety, medical care and family environment that you will provide for the kitten. In addition to this pre-screening telephone interview, an adoption application needs to be filled out after certain criteria are met. I do my best to find the "purr-fect" match for you.
Step 2: Meet and Greet
Once an individual is determined eligible to adopt from RESQCATS, the adoption process can proceed. An adoption form is completed and a promissory agreement is signed indicating that the kitten(s) will always be an INDOOR ONLY cat! 100% of the time! You will also agree that vet care will be provided for their lifetime and that the kitten(s) will NEVER be declawed! Adopting a kitten is a big commitment!
Step 3: Bring Your Kitten Home
The medical protocol is as follows: each arriving kitten receives a full examination by the veterinarian, they are tested for feline leukemia and FIV viruses, receive their first FVRCP (upper respiratory) vaccination, have a fecal exam and are dewormed. Every kitten is spayed or neutered and micro-chipped before he or she goes to a new home. If additional medical care is needed, RESQCATS provides whatever is required prior to adoption to assure that we are sending you home with a healthy kitten.
You and your kitty will go home with a health record of what has been done and when, as well as a schedule of when follow-up vaccines and the worming are due. You will also be given a sterility certificate, micro-chip information, and tips on bringing your kitten home and how to introduce him or her to your other animals if that is applicable.
If you are thinking of adopting a kitten, please give Jeffyne a call or send her an email.

Our Adoption Policy
All kittens need time to adjust to a new home. However, if you feel it's not working out, RESQCATS will always, within the initial adjustment period, take the kitten(s) back.
Every year we find homes for many kittens. But sometimes they arrive and need more than our standard medical protocol. Stray kittens can suffer from a number of health issues such as fleas, malnourishment, upper respiratory infections and more. Often, their moms can barely take care of them due to their own condition. They may require antibiotics, subcutaneous fluids, X-rays, extensive testing or emergency care. We do whatever it takes to treat and save them. RESQCATS has taken care of severe injuries such as broken legs and tails. We treat serious infections, parasites, flea anemia and animal bites. If emergency care is needed, we make sure they get that care. We call on veterinarian specialists in orthopedics, internal medicine, cardiology and even board certified surgeons to save precious lives. These kitties usually require longer stays at RESQCATS in order to recover before being eligible for adoption.
My philosophy is that every life is precious and worth saving so I go the extra mile to make sure that every kitten gets the care they need to live a long and happy life.
